“What do you do when your real life exceeds your dreams?” The character “Tom “asks in the movie BROADCAST NEWS….”Keep it to yourself” Aaron hisses back at him.
I feel like Tom staying at this world-class luxury resort, One&Only Palmilla Resort, and the only reason I’m sharing the experience is so anyone looking for a very special place to vacation and escape reality for awhile, can feel what it’s like at this resort and make a decision if it’s the best fit for them.. Talk about hip and chic, the “floating” beach bed in the picture is just one of the show stoppers at this exotic escape that’s set up not only as a honeymoon destination but offers family friendly vacations as well.
I learned on my property tour that… ALL 172 rooms at Palmilla boast a view of the water. Even every bathroom has that view. Impressive! This is the kind of resort that prides itself on taking care of its guest with a ratio of about 3 staff members for each guest. Of course when you’re at this world-class level and talking about a luxury resort they all have a certain standard to meet… but at Palmilla it’s the smallest extras that make a difference. Before you even come you’re sent a sheet to fill out where you can request everything from what you have in your mini-bar to what kind of pillow and sheets you want.
In your room you’ll find small discreet small cards asking you to check off what kind of Aromatherapy you want for your turndown service. Do you want BREATHE (Eucalyptus-Deep and Sound), CALM (Ylang Yalang-Soothing and Calming) BALANCE-(Frankincense-Mediation and Grounding) or MOMENTS-(Clary Sage-Euphoria and Laughter)? Then it’s on to selecting the kind of fresh fruit you want brought to your room daily and even what kind of cocktail snack where you choices vary from green olives and spicy peanuts to Marinated Panela Cheese and Toasted Croutons.
It’s mind boggling…especially after a fantastic dinner at Agua where the Chef spoiled us silly with a tasting menu featuring his love of Mexican flavors intermingled with a Moroccan flair. The menu included: Roasted Sea Scallops and Polenta, Pan Seared Sea Bass and Organic Pork Loin. The meal ended with a desert sampling to die for. Each serving was paired with a special wine to bring out the maximum flavor featuring some delicious Mexican choices.
Back in our room by midnight there was a snack waiting for us. Even with the doors shut in your room you can hear the surf crashing against the beach. Perhaps, Kiko’s gentle reminder that mother nature will always rule and for this trip we were just lucky that the weather cooperated.
I couldn’t resist getting up with the sun this morning to have some time before breakfast and golf. This place is intoxicating. You feel like you’re wasting time sleeping, or maybe that’s just me…
“So what do you do when your real life exceeds your dreams?”
