As my TRAVEL THERAPY journey continues to explore seven Caribbean islands in seven days I felt like Christopher Columbus as I sailed away from Cooper Island and headed for Virgin Gorda. Columbus, actually named the island Virgin Gorda in 1493 thinking the shape of the island looked like… a pregnant woman! This first-class island is now home to two of the Caribbean’s most sought after resorts, both favorites for honeymooners looking for a truly luxurious hideaway! My first stop on this island would be a splurge because I wanted to stay at…
LITTLE DIX BAY RESORT
Little Dix Bay Resort is an unspoiled beauty that was built by Laurence Rockefeller in the 1960’s. Even though the one hundred plus newly renovated rooms were sold out I rarely saw another guest. My room was fantastic with a view of the sea and for dining; my favorite restaurant was the Sugar Mill for its fantastic fresh fish selection and impressive wine list. The next morning I literally gasped as I entered resort’s new world class spa and discovered an amazing infinity edge pool that seemed to spill right into the Caribbean.
LITTLE DIX BAY RESORT SPA
For my treatments I was escorted to the exclusive Cliff Spa Suite where every detail down to the candles was perfection. I knew it was going to be hard to leave the island and go back to the catamaran but once back on the cat my relaxation continued as the afternoon blended into Happy Hour and the perfect evening. For my next stop, on my seven islands in seven days tour, I wasn’t traveling too far. In the morning I would head back to Virgin Gorda, around to the other side of the island to try out another famed resort Biras Creek.
