Some of the best snorkeling I’ve ever found is in the British Virgin Islands! The water is so incredibly clear you barely even need to get off the boat to see dozens of varieties of tropical fish and coral that covers ever color of the rainbow. In my journey to sail seven islands in seven days ( see last seven posts) I discovered some of the best snorkeling spots in this part of the Caribbean. Here’s the list. Enjoy! Continue reading

Tortola-Bye Bye BVI

It’s always hard to say goodbye to something or someplace you love so much!!!

I was heading back to Tortola on my final day of sailing. Tortola would be my seventh island in seven days. We did it! ( see last six posts) On our way back to the marina we caught up with several dozen sailboats racing in a regatta. When we fell in behind the leader I moved to the front of the catamaran and held on tight. It was exhilarating being soaked by the spray from the waves and my laughter was mixed with tears because I knew my trip was almost over but I had one more stop to make… Continue reading

Okay, I’m sure most of you on Thanksgiving are snuggled up next to a fireplace sipping wine or hot cider, but in the Caribbean they do things with a bit of a twist, especially if you’re on Cooper Island! Continue reading

Private Island Escape-Peter Island

As my sailing adventure continues my next stop is one of the most exclusive islands in the Caribbean, Peter Island, an amazing private island in the British Virgin Island that’s only accessible by boat or helicopter. This TRAVEL THERAPY destination has been top on my list of places to stay for more than a decade because… Continue reading

Treasure Island

A pirate’s life for me! That’s how I felt sailing up to the legendary Norman Island , my first overnight stop on my quest to sail seven islands in seven day in the British Virgin Islands (see last post). I had heard about this island years ago and wanted to see why famed author, Robert Louis Stevenson called this tiny speck of an island his inspiration for “Treasure Island.” BVI Locals still insist there’s a fortune buried somewhere. After anchoring about a quarter mile out I took our dinghy over to the beach and followed a rugged but scenic hiking trial all around the top of the tiny island. This is what I found… Continue reading

Okay, now you don’t have to just take my recommendations on the best places to eat in Sin City because the prestigious European Michelin Guide has now added Las Vegas to its list of premier dining destinations around the world. Lady Vegas has come a long way from the 99 cent shrimp cocktails and $1.99 prime rib dinners! Here are the restaurants that received top honors… Continue reading

Winning Winery

For this TRAVEL THERAPY assignment I would need my wine glass. Yes, tough work. I know, but I really do want to figure out why, with dozens of wineries in Northern California,  Bennett Lane is so special? Sniff, swirl, sip. I found yummy wine but I also found out  Bennett Lane is the first to sponsor a NASCAR Team. Yup, that’s right, I said NASCAR. It seems such an unlikely pairing until you hear about how wine could end up being the new Bud Light at the track… Continue reading

This has to be one of the coolest buildings I’ve ever seen! Add that to the fact this funky work of art is a hotel AND winery and this is one TRAVEL THERAPY  you shouldn’t miss. It was love at first sight! Yes, I believe in that kind of thing because… Continue reading

One of the most delicious things about traveling to new destinations is experiencing different cuisine. As part of my TRAVEL THERAPY I go out of my way to pick something on the menu I’ve never tasted before and when I discovered this delicious dish I begged for the recipe to take home with me. This is the perfect snack for watching football or to bring out for a holiday party. Big bonus, it comes from an award-winning chef and it’s even easy to make! Here’s the recipe… Continue reading

My idea of being truly pampered on a vacation doesn’t just involve checking into a  top resort spa. To continue your pampering 24/7 for the right TRAVEL THERAPY you also have to take in consideration the cuisine, entertainment and of course what kind of butlers they have….  Continue reading
