This has to be one of the coolest buildings I’ve ever seen! Add that to the fact this funky work of art is a hotel AND winery and this is one TRAVEL THERAPY  you shouldn’t miss. It was love at first sight! Yes, I believe in that kind of thing because…

that’s what dreams are made of and why not feel like you’re living a dream when you’re on vacation. You’re worth it. Life’s short. So here’s a BIG cheers to the world-renowned architect Frank O. Gehry for renovating the historic Marques de Riscal winery in El Ciego, Spain and sharing his renowned genius on a much smaller scale.

This kind of beauty doesn’t come cheap. With a price tag of 100 million dollars, Gehry unveiled this bold 43 room hotel, winery, restaurant and spa late in 2006. This new hotel also features a historic wine cellar with bottles dating back to the 1800’s. Gehry says finding a balance between old and new was one of  his greatest challenges.

At first glance this ultra modern eye candy seems jarringly out of place until you discover the design, down to the colors, actually honors the wine making industry. The building’s canopy consists of layered ribbons of red, gold and silver titanium. The red signifies flowing wine, the gold is the netting on a bottle and the silver is the foil. Perfection…makes you thirsty doesn’t it? If you visit don’t miss checking out the spa and the special treatments featuring…of course..WINE!
